As a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization, FHCAM thrives on the generosity of our cherished donors, passionate volunteers, and our incredible community. Together, we educate visitors, preserve and restore rare, historic aircraft, vehicles, and artifacts, and keep the spirit of history alive. VOLUNTEER

Volunteer Applications Closed until Fall 2024.

 

Volunteers are valued members of our team and serve an essential role in our organization. Your contributions enable FHCAM to deliver exceptional experiences and remarkable impacts to the community.  

 

We’re not actively recruiting volunteers at the moment, but we encourage you to familiarize yourself with the positions we offer so that when we begin accepting applications, you’ll know which area feels like the perfect fit.

 

All applicants must be 18 years or older, pass a background check, and meet a minimum of 36 hours of volunteer hours per year. Additionally, all volunteers must attend Orientation and Training prior to beginning volunteer service. Thank you for your excitement and willingness to get involved!

 

VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

MUSEUM DOCENT/GREETER

Docent/Greeters lead guests throughout the museum, engaging in accurate historical storytelling, answering questions, and fostering a safe, educational environment.

 

Duties Include: 

  • Provide remarkable customer service to guests
  • Be welcoming, helpful, and friendly to all guests
  • Stay up to date with exhibit and tour information
  • Relay information/stories in a compelling manner

Requirements:

  • Professional, friendly, competent
  • Strong public speaking skills
  • Must be able to move throughout the museum and engage with visitors for at least three hours at a time.

SHOP DETAILER

Volunteers receive direction from FHCAM Maintenance Staff to maintain museum cleanliness of museum aircraft, tanks, and artifacts.

 

Duties Include: 

  • Dust aircraft and tanks
  • Clean floor surfaces beneath aircraft and tanks
  • Maintain upkeep of static displays throughout the museum

Requirements: 

  • Professional, friendly, competent
  • Must have strong attention to detail

RESEARCH CATALOGER

Volunteers receive direction from FHCAM Staff to maintain museum artifact cataloging and influence research opportunities.

 

Duties include:

  • Help update and maintain artifact cataloging
  • Handling of physical artifacts
  • Organize online/cloud storage of museum information and artifact descriptions

Requirements: 

  • Professional, friendly, competent
  • Must have strong attention to detail

GENERAL VOLUNTEER

Volunteers welcome guests into the museum, assist with directing foot traffic, may provide event and/or activity related support.

 

Duties include:

  • Provide remarkable customer service to guests
  • Be welcoming, helpful, and friendly to all guests
  • Follow instructions specific to event/activity

Professional, friendly, competent
